Enrollment Dates/Time
• Pre-Enrolled and Returning Students Online Pre-Enrollment Starts July 18, 2022
• New Student/In-Person Enrollment - Elementary: July 18, 8AM-3PM; July 19, 12PM-7PM
• New Student/In-Person Enrollment - Middle School: July 21, 11AM-7PM; July 22, 7:30AM-3:30PM
• New Student/In-Person Enrollment - High School: July 27, 10AM-6PM; July 28, 9AM-4PM

Once these designated in-person dates have passed, please contact your child's school during their regular building open hours.

Age Requirements
The requirement for a child's first enrollment in a Kansas school is governed by the state law and the school district cannot exercise any deviations from the law.
• A child must be 5 years of age on or before August 31 of the current year to enter kindergarten.
• A child must be 6 years of age on or before August 31 of the current year to enter the first grade.

Entrance Requirements
If you are entering Derby Public Schools for the first time, you will go to your new school to enroll. It is essential you bring the following items with you:
• Birth Certificate - If a birth certificate is not available, schools will accept a hospital certificate of birth, a visa or passport, a certified transcript from another school district, or a court order that shows the birth date and places the student with Department for Children and Families. Students may enter kindergarten if they will be five years old on or before August 31, 2022. Students may enroll in first grade if they will be six years old on or before August 31, 2022
• Proof of Residency - Please bring a utility bill (water/gas/electric) that verifies you live within the district boundaries.
• Health Assessment - A current health assessment is strongly encouraged for all students. Consult your child’s health care provider to obtain and complete a health assessment. Return this information to the school nurse.
• Immunization Requirements - Official/valid immunization documentation is required by law. The official exclusion day for non-compliance of immunizations is November 7, 2022.
